When donating items keep in mind what other ingredients might be needed to make that meal. For example a Hamburger Helper box is great, but you still need oil, meat, and milk to make it. This is why “just add water” foods are so valuable (especially if they AREN’T stuff like Ramen noodles). Backpacking meals are a great alternative!

For anyone looking to provide direct assistance to individuals, try to avoid money transfers via banks or money apps. That money can be seen as taxable income which can disqualify at-risk folks from getting access to needed services. Instead, try to use cash or gift-cards.
